Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What services do you offer?
We offer individual therapy for adults, child and adolescent therapy, family and couples therapy, parent consultations, and psychological assessments.

2. Who do you work with?
We provide services across the lifespan, working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

3. How do I know if therapy is right for me or my child?
If you or your child are feeling overwhelmed, experiencing changes in mood or behavior, or simply need a space to talk things through, therapy can be a helpful starting point.

4. What can I expect during the first session?
The first session is focused on getting to know you (or your child), understanding concerns, and identifying goals to guide the work moving forward.

5. Are sessions in-person or virtual?
At this time, most sessions are offered via telehealth, allowing for greater flexibility and minimizing the inconvenience of travel, traffic, and scheduling challenges. Some in-person sessions may be available based on location and need.

6. Is telehealth secure and confidential?
Yes. We use a HIPAA-compliant video platform to ensure that your sessions remain private and secure. HIPAA (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) is a U.S. law that sets strict standards for protecting sensitive health information, so you can feel confident that your information is protected.

7. How long are sessions?
Standard sessions typically last 45–60 minutes, with extended sessions available for more in-depth support for both adults and families.

8. Do you offer psychological assessments?
Yes, we provide comprehensive psychological and neurodevelopmental assessments for children, adolescents, and adults to help clarify diagnoses and guide recommendations.

9. What is the difference between psychological, neurodevelopmental, and psychoeducational assessments?

  • A psychological (or psychodiagnostic) assessment focuses on emotional, behavioral, and personality functioning to help identify concerns such as anxiety, depression, or other mental health conditions.

  • A neurodevelopmental assessment evaluates developmental differences such as autism and ADHD, looking at how an individual thinks, learns, and interacts.

  • A psychoeducational assessment focuses on cognitive abilities and academic skills to better understand learning strengths and challenges, often to support school-based services. In some cases, evaluations may include elements of each to provide a comprehensive understanding.

10. How many sessions will I or my child need?
The number of sessions varies based on individual needs and goals. We work collaboratively with both adults and families to monitor progress and adjust as needed.

11. Do you involve parents or caregivers in a child’s therapy?
Yes, parent involvement is often an important part of the process. We also provide direct support and guidance to adults navigating parenting and family dynamics.

12. Are sessions confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a key part of our work for both adults and minors, with clear limits discussed during your first session.
